Galderma’s Restylane Kysse has been approved by the FDA for lip augmentation and the correction of upper perioral rhytids in adults aged 21 and above.
The hyaluronic acid filler contains 3mg/mL of lidocaine hydrochloride and is part of the Restylane range, which includes Restylane Classic, Lyft, Refyne, Fynesse, Volyme, Defyne; and skin boosters Vital and Vital Light.
The FDA approval was based on a randomised, controlled, evaluator-blinded, multicentre phase 3 study involving 273 patients.

What is so special about Restylane Kysse™?
It is made with an amazing technology called Natural expression, which allows the hyaluronic acid gel to almost seamlessly fill the lips and not to be able to feel like anything was ever injected.

You will have a Consultation with Dr.Avaliani to determine whether Restylane Kysse is the best product for your concern. You will then be given treatment consents, your before photos will be taken and you will get topical numbing cream applied to the treatment area, which will stay on for about 20-30 minutes.
What is the recovery time after Restylane Kysse™ injection?
Restylane Kysse causes minimal swelling and can be injected any day of the week. There is no recovery.
How to minimize bruising after Restylane Kysse™ injections?
Bruising is almost always expected with anything when there are needles used. Injections into the lip area are no different. Dr. Avaliani employs her custom numbing cream which has an agent that minimizes bruising and bleeding. She also uses the AccuVein tool to help visualize blood vessels and is a master injector and a true expert in anatomy.
As a patient, you are advised to avoid any alcoholic beverages 3-5 days prior to your appointment, stop any vitamins and multivitamins and avoid taking NSAIDS like Motrin, Advil or Aleve for 5 days prior as well.
When is the best time to plan for Restylane Kysse™ injections?
We love this rule of thumb, if afraid or first time, always plan 2-4 weeks before any major event.
If you work in front of people, then likely Friday would be the best time to get injections done.
If you have done this before and feel comfortable wearing bright lipstick at work the next day, then you can get your injections any day of the week.
How soon can one apply lipstick after Restylane Kysse™ injections?
It is recommended to wait at least 30 minutes before applying anything to the injection area in order to avoid the possibility of an infection.
So the simple answer is 30 minutes after your injection.
How soon can one exercise after Restylane Kysse™ lip injections?
There are really no set in stone rules about exercise and injections. Can you exercise the same day you received your injections? The answer can be yes as long as you and your doctor discussed this prior. You can easily skip 24 hours and resume your regular routine after 24 hours just to be on a safer side. Exercise may increase risk of bruising and swelling but it will not cause any product to shift or move.
What are some absolute contraindications to receiving Restylane Kysse™ injections?
Having active infection in the area like a cold sore aka Herpes Zoster and having a history of an allergic reaction to dermal fillers and a history of anaphylaxis (severe life-threatening allergic reaction).
What are the most common side effects from Restylane Kysse™ injections?
The most common thing to occur after your treatment are soreness, tenderness in the area, swelling, redness and possibly small bruising.
Can one get Restylane Kysse™ injections if they have Juvederm family dermal filler in their lips?
Absolutely yes. There are no restrictions on mixing different brands of dermal fillers except worth mentioning that one may have different experience and or recovery time with another brand of dermal fillers
How long should you wait before adding more Restylane Kysse™ product?
Ideally 2 weeks after your initial treatment date to allow the product to fully settle and for you to be able to determine of more product is warranted.
