The silicone strips are clinically tested and designed to offer an affordable way to promote scar healing.

Scar Erase, a London-based company that provides silicone-based scar reduction therapy for the treatment of hypertrophic and keloid scars, has announced a newly available solution for the treatment of scars.

Now available in the UK, the Scar Erase silicone strips are made from 3mm of medical-grade silicone, which is specifically formulated for keratinocyte hydration and has been clinically proven to improve the appearance of scars and promote healing.

The technology can be used on both new and old scars and aids in the treatment of most scar types, including hypertrophic, post-acne, keloid, post-surgery, c-section, and stretch marks.

Topical silicone scar reduction therapy is currently the number one treatment to help flatten and reduce the appearance of Keloid and Hypertrophic scars. During treatment, the scar location is completely encapsulated with silicone to aid hydration, while still allowing oxygen to enter the site. This provides an optimum healing environment in the stratum corneum, prompting keratinocytes to reduce collagen formation and preventing undesirable scarring.

Several studies, with sample size unknown, have been carried out by the brand to test the efficacy of the new silicone strips after six months. The findings, published on Scar Erase’s website, reveal an 86% reduction in scar texture, 84% reduction in scar colour and 68% reduction in scar height.

“Scar Erase Silicone Strips are a game-changer in scar treatment,” says the Manchester-based dermatologist Dr Sarah Johnson. “I’ve recommended them to several of my patients and the results have been truly remarkable. I’m thrilled to see a product like this finally available in the UK.”

The strips are also designed to offer an easy, comfortable, and discreet way for people to reduce scar appearance. They adhere directly to scars and are soft, flexible, and hygienic to wear. The technology is reusable too, and the strips – which are vegan, cruelty-free and perfume-free – can be cut to fit any part of the body.

Scar Erase was created by two sisters after both struggled to find affordable and effective treatment for post-surgery scars.

“At Scar Erase, our mission is to help people feel confident and comfortable in their own skin,” said one of the sisters in a press release. “We understand all too well that scars can be a source of insecurity and self-consciousness, which is why we developed our medical-grade silicone strips. Our strips are made with high-quality silicone that has been clinically proven to reduce the appearance of scars. We are proud to offer a safe, effective and affordable solution for scar treatment that can be used in the comfort of your own home.”

The relatively affordable at-home treatment costs £28 for a six-week supply. For more information, visit scarerase.co.uk
