Distributors of Medik8SkinBrands, has announced that the premium British skincare brand has become Benefit Corporation (B Corp) certified.

In the 8000-strong B Corp community worldwide, Medik8 is now one of 66 beauty manufacturers to be recognised. As a business that has prioritised sustainability, Medik8 considers this a pivotal milestone.

B Corporations are companies that have been observed to have met high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. Their recognition also legally commits them to bring benefit, not just to shareholders, but to all business stakeholders – that means workers, customers, communities, and the environment.

The B Corp certification addresses the entirety of a business’ operations and covers five key impact areas: Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers. The certification process requires applicants to reach a benchmark score of over 80, while providing evidence of socially and environmentally responsible practices relating to energy supplies, waste and water use, worker compensation, diversity, and corporate transparency.

Following an eight-month application process, Medik8 obtained certification with a score of 89.9 points.

“B Corp certification does not mean that as a company we are perfect, nor that we have achieved our highest impact,” says Alexandra Florea, Medik8’s head of sustainability. “We are on a journey and are excited to be joining a community of like-minded companies that believe businesses can be a force for good. Over the coming months and years, with B Corp as our guiding principle, we are committed to bringing greater positive impact to our communities and the planet.’’
