Distributor and training provider of IBSA Derma in the UK and Ireland, HA-Derma, organised a facial anatomy and dissection training workshop in June.

The event featured two days of training at the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh led by aesthetic practitioner Dr Beatriz Molina and consultant oral and maxillofacial surgeons Mr Mark Devlin and Mr Jeff Downie.

The topics presented included an understanding of anatomy to optimise injection techniques, danger zones, live dissections and discussions of techniques for the upper third, mid third, lower third of the face, nose and lips.

Delegates also created 3D anatomy models using playdough and took home sketches of themselves by a professional medical artist Phil Ferguson Jones.

The social programme took all delegates to taste the cuisine of Edinburgh and included a talk on the history of ‘body snatchers’, ending with a night walk in the Greyfriars Kirkyard cemetery.

Aesthetic practitioner Dr Dallas Walker who attended the workshop said: “Although I refresh regularly via textbooks and 3D simulated apps, there is no comparison to the hands-on.”

HA-Derma will be planning its next workshop for November.
