Aesthetic supplier Cosmeditech has launched Exciplex to treat autoimmune skin conditions.

According to the company, the device is approved by the Food and Drug Administration and is CE marked. It can be used to treat vitiligo, psoriasis, alopecia areata, mycosis fungoides and atopic dermatitis. The device emits a monochromatic excimer light at 308 nm, explains the company.

Peter McGuinness, director at Cosmeditech, commented, “Exciplex uses a patented 308 monochromatic light system that overcomes many of the drawbacks of excimer laser for the treatment of autoimmune skin diseases. It is smaller and therefore portable, has no consumables and requires little if any maintenance. With a large and variable spot size, treatment time is within minutes if not seconds, enabling high volume treatment and high return on investment.”
